Marcelle Hosack (Rice)

Attorney at Law

Marcelle Hosack (Rice) has 16 years of experience practicing immigration law, representing numerous clients before USCIS, the San Francisco and Los Angeles Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Marcelle has developed expertise in deportation defense, family petitions, applications for asylum, protection for victims of crimes, permanent residence applications, NACARA, and waivers. She is inspired and motivated by the strength of her clients, many of whom have overcome great odds and difficulties to seek a brighter future.

Marcelle earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. She developed a dedication to asylum and immigration law under the mentorship of Professor Karen Musalo, at the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies. Marcelle is the author of "Protecting Parents: Why Mothers and Fathers who Oppose Female Genital Cutting Qualify for Asylum," in the November 2004 issue of Immigration Briefings, and the co-author with Karen Musalo of "The Implementation of the One-Year Bar to Asylum," which appeared in a 2008 issue of the Hastings International Law & Comparative Law Review.

Marcelle is an active member of the State Bar of California and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She speaks conversational Spanish, French, and Norwegian.
